Ryan James Philpott
Ryan James Philpott, son of Sandy and Herb Philpott and brother of Rosemary Philpott, came into the world at 11:48AM on 11/2/2009, a beautiful fall day at Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital, weighing 9 lbs. 4 oz.
At his 5-week pediatrician appointment, we discovered that he was apparently the world's heaviest baby. He weighed 14 lbs. 1 oz., having gained one pound a week since his first weekend home when his weight hit 8 lbs. 1 oz. At his 6-month pedicatrician appointment, he was officially 29 lbs. 2 oz. and 30-1/2 inches long. At one year, he was 34 lbs. 8 oz. and 35" tall, and at age 2 he weighed 40 pounds and was 3 feet, 3 inches tall. Considering that the rule of thumb is that boys are half their adult height at age 2, I think it's safe to say he is one big kid and likely to stay that way.
He is surprisingly talkative for a two-year-old boy. He doesn't talk in sentences so much as in paragraphs. His favorite topic of discussion is trucks, and he will happily explain to you the difference between a flatbed tow truck and a wheel-lift tow trucks, between an excavator and a backhoe, and between tracks and tires, as well as expound upon the use of stabilizers and what "articulated" means. He is quite fond of long words such as "humongous," "scrumptious," and "actually".
His favorite foods are noodles of any kind, cantaloupe, french fries with ketchup (mostly the ketchup part), and "buhdert" (dessert) including candy, cookies, ice cream, and caaaaaake.
His favorite bedtime books are "Go, Dog, Go", "Are You My Mother?", "God Bless", and "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom ABC".
