Ryan James Philpott

Sandy and Herb Philpott are proud to announce the birth of their son, and Rosemary Philpott is proud to announce the birth of her baby brother, Ryan James Philpott, on 11/2/2009.

Ryan came into the world at 11:48AM on a beautiful fall day at Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital, weighing 9 lbs 4 oz.

At his 5-week pediatrician appointment, we discovered we have what is apparently the world's heaviest baby. He weighed 14 lbs. 1 oz., having gained one pound a week since his first weekend home when his weight hit 8 lbs 1 oz. At eight weeks old, he tipped the scales at over 16 lbs. At his four-month appointment, he weighed 25-1/2 lbs and was 28-1/2 inches long, both of which are well above the 100th percentile. At five months, he charmed the staff at the Post Office into weighing him on the postal scale and weighed in at 27 lbs., 2 oz. At his 6-month pedicatrician appointment, he was officially 29 lbs. 2 oz. and 30-1/2 inches long. With his 9-month appointment coming up shortly, he is unofficially weighing in at 32.5 lbs and 33 inches, so I think it's safe to say he can keep his title as the World's Heaviest Baby.
